Graduates from the Future Generation Association (Geel El Mostakbal) in partnership with Eva Pharma organized their first medical convoy that is a part of a larger health campaign to spread awareness on the A/H1N1 flu. This first medical convoy targeted the village of Magoul - El Kalyoubeya governorate, providing free medical examination to over 1000 patients. Eva Pharma provided all the medical and pharmaceutical appliances for the campaign in the fields of internal medicine, orthopedics & pediatrics, ensuring that villagers were able to have numerous free health examinations, ranging from glucose level testing to the early detection of hepatic viruses and chronic hepatitis B. While carrying out these examinations, volunteers from both Eva Pharma and the Future Generation Foundation spread awareness about the A/H1N1 flu and its symptoms, giving villagers tips on prevention and treatments methods, and providing them with health awareness flyers.
Speaking on the success of the campaign so far, Dr. Riad Armanious, CEO Eva Pharma gave a short overview of the start and future goals of the health initiative. On the 17th of July, 2009, the campaign first started its outreach at the railway stations of Egypt’s main governorates: Misr Central Station, Assuit Station and SidiGaber Alexandria station. In the second phase of the initiative, following up on the success of the first campaign, free health awareness flyers were distributed through railway stations at the request of the Organization of Railway Stations, informing citizens on the risks of this virus. Dr. Riad added that Eva Pharma was planning to extend the initiative and reach out to even more citizens, targeting the particularly infection prone time of the “Omra” pilgrimage as an opportunity to hand out prevention masks at underground railway stations and airports.
